MOOCs and Open Education is a fine and promising edited collection relating to massive open online courses (MOOCs) and open educational resources. Digital elearning technology has rapidly evolved in terms of interactivity and the capability to reach students all over the world since the emergence of the Internet. The transformational technological influence of the World Wide Web offers types of communication and interaction which are essential for e-learning technology. There are not many trends in electronic educational technology over the past half-century that can match the sudden arrival of these MOOCs. We can no longer cover these massive open online courses with one definition because there are many different categories of MOOCs. Some MOOC courses are based on prerecorded video workshops plus facilitated interaction or discussion forums. Some MOOC courses are an effort to meet global increases in the demand for tutoring and training. These MOOC classes are unquestionably becoming a powerful catalyst for innovations in distance learning technology.
