MOOCs and Open Education Around the World is a fascinating and promising new book about massively open online courses (MOOCs) and open education resources (OER). Education has rapidly developed in terms of interactivity and the ability to reach humans in nations all over the world since the emergence of the Internet. The transformative technological influence of the information superhighway makes possible powerful types of communication and interaction which are essential for digital educational technology. There are scarcely any trends in blended learning over the past half-century that can match the sudden arrival of MOOC classes. It has become impossible to cover MOOC classes with one definition because there are many different categories of MOOCs. Some MOOC courses are based on prerecorded video conversations plus facilitated interaction or discussion forums. Some MOOCs are a supply-side answer to recent increases in the demand for elearning and digital learning. MOOCs are becoming a relevant catalyst for innovations in digital education technology.
MOOCs and Open Education articulates the depth and nature of changes which include openness, faculty professional development, quality assurance, student success, and corporate learning. This Routledge Chapman & Hall book considers numerous critical developments in massive open online courses. This edifying new book also examines open education resources and online education issues.
